Breaking Brett Jensen kicks off tonight’s special show by talking with Jeffrey Baldwin, Director of The LIBRE Institute, about what lead his family to moving to America. Originally from Guatemala, Baldwin says he came to America in search of opportunities for a better life. The LIBRE Institute is a private, non-profit organization, that is dedicated to educating the Hispanic American community about the politics and the promise of America. Brett discusses the unexpected percentage of Hispanic Americans who voted for President Trump in this past election, which came as a surprise to many people, especially those on the left.
Later, Brett and Director Baldwin discuss the process of naturalization and receiving American citizenship, some of what Baldwin shares may surprise you. This also ties into the mission of The LIBRE Institute. “It’s not only about memorizing it (American civics), but understanding why, why it is important,” Baldwin said when discussing some of the requirements for gaining citizenship.
