Later in The Show Brett Discuses the passing of John Patty Hemingway, the last surviving pilot of the Battle of Britain, who passed away at the age of 105. Hemingway, an Irish national, was part of the Royal Air Force during World War II and fought in the pivotal Battle of Britain in 1940.

Brett highlights the sacrifices of these young pilots who faced overwhelming odds against the Nazi Luftwaffe, with the RAF losing 544 pilots and 1,000 aircraft, while the Luftwaffe lost 2,500 aircrew and 1,800 planes. He also reflects on Winston Churchill’s famous tribute to these pilots, noting how they played a crucial role in defending Britain.
