A man is facing multiple charges after he slashed the tires of 40 vehicles in the parking lot of a Publix in Ballantyne on Saturday, May 3.

Darren Anthony Ransom, 30, was arrested after witnesses reported he had been damaging vehicles for about 20 minutes at the Publix in Ballantyne Town Center. Police finally arrested him at a nearby restaurant.

Ransom is charged with 40 counts of injury to personal property. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday but refused to attend. His next court date is set for August 29.

Videos of a person slashing tires in the parking lot went viral on social media. A nearby business also reported two of its employees’ vehicles were vandalized, with surveillance video showing a man slashing the tires of two SUVs.
