Panthers Release Clowney, Brooks on PUP List

The Carolina Panthers have released veteran edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney as part of a series of roster moves ahead of the start of rookie minicamp on Friday.
The team had reportedly shopped Clowney, a Rock Hill native, before the NFL Draft but ultimately opted to part ways.
Clowney recorded 5.5 sacks in his lone season with Carolina, a drop from the 9.5 he tallied the year prior with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Panthers also placed 2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks on the physically unable to perform list. The running back is expected to miss the entire 2025 season while recovering from a second ACL injury to his right knee.
Other moves included waiving injured former Coastal Carolina basketball player Colin Granger and releasing veteran tight end Jordan Matthews.
